ABOUT ME AND MY PHOTOGRAPHY
I can NEVER express enough gratitude or admiration to Dan for all his kindness, generosity and support. Whatever photographic success I have had, or have in the future, would never have been mine had it not been for Dan Koukol. I hope one day I can be as good a photographer as he is, and that I can do for others what he has done for me.

In 2007, I had the unexpected surprise of becoming the first ever Shooting All The Time Day contest winner. An international photo contest for both amateur and professional photographers by Popular Photography Magazine.
All my photography is shot primarily with Nikon products. My main camera that I use is a D2x, designed for great results. I also, at times, use a D200 and D2hs.
Lenses I use are a Nikkor 24-120mm, and a Sigma 70-200 1:2.8 with Macro. I also at times use a Sigma 1.4x teleconverter, and for flash needs, a Nikon SB-800 Speedlight.
My photos are taken in RAW format and processed with Adobe Photoshop CS3.

I have always wanted to do something creative that I could share with others and provide something that would bring happiness and be treasured. With photography I have found that.
I started taking photos at our first Splash Dog event we took our 4 month old Lab, Maxx, to in July of 2006. I was just using our Canon G6 Powershot. Nothing special, just taking some photos. The next day my wife’s boss, Dan Koukol, Roseville Criminal Defense Attorney and an extraordinary photographer, saw my photos and said, “Howie’s got a good eye, I’d like him to borrow this Nikon D100 and see what he can do with it”. With the next set of photos, he said, “I think he’s ready for the next camera!!” and got me started with an even better camera and worked with me to get me started on this photographic journey.
